NIGHTHAWKS (dir: Bruce Malmuth, R) - Greg says, "When you're thinking about the most fashionable terrorists ever caught on film, it's easy to automatically conjure an image of those Black September fellows at the Munich Olympics. I mean, when has a balaclava and tight polyester trousers ever gone wrong? Eventually those grungy I.R.A. guys ruined that look, though. For my money, the absolute apex of terrorist chic was achieved by Rutger Hauer is his American film debut. He plays Wulfgar, a Eurosleeze dandy with a penchant for chasing after Sylvester Stallone in the New York subway system wearing a leather jacket and a neckerchief. He's so cool, he doesn't even support a political cause. He's simply a mercenary who wants to look good while he's holding the Roosevelt Island cable car hostage with an uzi."
THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER (dir: Jim Henson, G) - Greg says, "The perverse lust that fills Charles Grodin's eyes when he gazes at Miss Piggy is a bit distracting but, otherwise, I think this is the best Muppet movie. If you factor in that he was also on hand to witness Jessica Lange fall in love with a gorilla in KING KONG, you start to get a creepy feeling about the guy. What's with the cross-species love, Grodin? Are you from New Zealand or something?"
THE EVIL DEAD (dir: Sam Raimi, NC-17) – Kurt says, "Scary. This movie is scary. Don’t even think about watching this movie before you spend some time in a secluded cabin in the middle of the woods. Sam Raimi knew what he was doing long before anyone else had any idea. Suggested reading: If Chins Could Kill, Bruce Campbell’s autobiography."
