NEW MOVIES!  AUGUST 1 - AUGUST 7, 2017

GOING IN STYLE (USA, PG-13) - I had this great idea for basically this movie a while back except it was starring Betty White. However, Bart tells me this one is a remake of a '70s movie with George Burns. I still think my idea is better.
DIRECTED BY: Zach Braff
STARRING: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Joey King, Matt Dillon, Christopher Lloyd, Ann-Margret, John Ortiz
METASCORE: 50, based on 31 Critics
THE CIRCLE (USA, PG-13) - Girl gets job at internet. Girl is pretty and gets promoted so much, she learns the truth behind what it really is. Now humanity's future hangs in the balance
DIRECTED BY: James Ponsoldt

*COLOSSAL (USA, R) - Gloria is down on her luck. She's jobless, her boyfriend has kicked her out of their New York apartment and she's forced to move back home mid-mental breakdown. She then realizes that her existence somehow is connected to colossal bad juju in South Korea??
DIRECTED BY: Nacho Vigalondo
STARRING: Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, Dan Stevens, Austin Stowell, Tim Blake Nelson,
METASCORE: 70, based on 36 Critics
SLEIGHT (USA, R) - A street magician finds himself responsible for his little sister after the death of their mother. He turns to drug dealing on the streets of LA to support them. Then his sister gets kidnapped by bad dudes and he uses his magic tricks to save her, superhero style.
DIRECTED BY: J.D. Dillard
STARRING: Jacob Latimore, Seychelle Gabriel, Dulé Hill, Storm Reid, Sasheer Zamata, Michael Villar
METASCORE: 62, based on 18 Critics
BIG LITTLE LIES (USA, Not Rated) - This big deal HBO miniseries is based on a novel by Liane Moriarity. At first glance, these mothers of 7-year-olds seem perfectly normal. Then someone gets murdered.

METASCORE: 75, based on 42 Critics

METASCORE: 76, based on 31 Critics
^AFTER THE STORM (Japan, Not Rated) - An unsuccessful Japanese novelist has become a sleazy private detective to make ends meet. One night his ex-wife, 11-year-old son and his mother all find themselves at his apartment waiting out a typhoon - quality dysfunctional family time at its finest.

THE OTTOMAN LIEUTENANT (USA, R) - Here's a war-torn love story. An American nurse and a Turkish officer fall madly in love during WWI. It could never work, though.

METASCORE: 26, based on 13 Critics
PHOENIX FORGOTTEN (USA, PG-13) - Decades after the disappearance of three teens in Arizona, a videotape is discovered. It's one of those found footage horror movie types. It's nothing I care about but I'm kinda judgy so, I dunno, just see it for yourself.
DIRECTED BY: Justin Barber
STARRING: Chelsea Lopez, Florence Hartigan, Justin Matthews, Luke Spencer Roberts
METASCORE: 33, based on 5 Critics
THE DROWNING (USA, Not Rated) - A psychiatrist gets a new patient. This one is a little different: he was recently released from prison after serving time for a murder he committed at 11 years old. Now that's unsettling.
